"Confessions of an Intact Teen "

I woke up this morning to a great blog article by the wonderful Guggie Daly.  Her 13 year old brother speaks out against circumcision.  Out of the mouths of babes.... comes clear logic and rational thinking!!!

Confessions of an Intact Teen

LK is Guggie's 13 year old intact brother.

"So I've heard of circumcision before. Something about cutting the penis skin. Sounds horrible. But today Guggie showed me a video of it on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDuDhkiDdns.

It made me sick to my stomach. I can't believe the doctor did that to a baby. I can't believe people like that are allowed to walk free after torturing a baby on their most sensitive spot. Why did the dad just sit there? Why didn't the dad hit the doctor, push him away, grab his baby and run?

I wish they could make a machine where they take the doctor's mind and put him in a baby getting tortured and make the doctor feel it and remember it forever.....

...I want parents to know that penis skin is part of the penis! And penis skin protects the penis! It protected mine! To the dads: if anyone ever tells you to cut your son's penis, grab your son and run away! Don't be like the dad in the video."

INTACT America- spread the word

Spread the Word

Send a message to the AAP Task Force on Circumcision today!

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Task Force on Circumcision has been meeting to finalize its policy on routine male circumcision. Having recently retracted its policy statement calling for a lift of the Federal ban on female genital cutting, the AAP must now stand up and protect the rights of ALL children to an intact body.
While the AAP prepares to go public with its statement, it’s critical that it hear directly from people who oppose circumcision. Remind the AAP that it’s wrong – morally, medically, and ethically – and that doctors took an oath to “do no harm.”

Spread the word to everyone!

One of Intact America's most important goals is making sure the members of The American Academy of Pediatrics' Task Force on Circumcision get the message that any form of genital cutting, whether male or female, is unnecessary, harmful, and ethically wrong -- and we need your help.
Will you take two minutes to help us spread the word about this urgent effort to stop the AAP from recommending male infant circumcision? (And if you haven't yet sent your letter to the AAP, you can send it right now!)
It's easy to do, just copy and paste the message below into an e-mail to your neighbors, parents, adult kids, co-workers, siblings, physicians (especially your pediatrician!), and friends:

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Task Force on Circumcision has been meeting to finalize the organization's forthcoming statement, which may recommend circumcision.

We need to make sure it hears our message BEFORE it issues a decision that could be harmful to baby boys across America: Circumcision is harmful, unnecessary, and ethically wrong, and pediatricians need to remember that they took an oath to “do no harm.”

Send a message directly to the AAP task force now!

If we successfully prevent the AAP from recommending circumcision, it will be a victory for baby boys - and it will help prevent dangerous recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), which are also considering revising their positions.

But there isn't much time. With your help, we need to turn up the pressure on the AAP right now.

Send your message to the AAP task force today - before it's too late for baby boys.

Once you've sent your message, please go one step further and forward this message to your friends and family and ask them to join you in contacting the AAP. Please also share this message on Facebook and Twitter.

Time is of the essence, and we need to ensure that the members of the task force hear from as many intactivists as possible before they issue their statement.

At this critical moment, we hope you will continue to stand with us.

Thank you for your support!

Message from INTACT America

Intact America

Dear Danielle,

Despite the fact that leaving babies intact is now the norm, the AAP is still considering revising its position on circumcision.
Send our Intact America team to next month's AAP conference so we can tell pediatricians to stop cutting our baby boys!
In just a few short weeks, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) will gather in San Francisco for its annual conference. Many members of the AAP Task Force on Circumcision — currently meeting to consider whether the AAP should recommend infant circumcision for all baby boys — will be at the conference.
Intact America needs to be there, too.
Time is of the essence. The circumcision rate in the U.S. has dropped to just 33%. Leaving babies intact is becoming the norm in this country, and we need to tell our pediatricians to wake up and listen to America's families. Parents are clearly getting the message that circumcision is medically unnecessary, harmful, and ethically wrong — and so should the medical community.
Please donate today and help us make sure the AAP hears us loud and clear: it's time to stop cutting our baby boys.
We need to fight back now, before it's too late.
The topic of infant circumcision is gaining wide exposure (witness the recent New York Times article; this week's coverage regarding a baby that was accidentally circumcised by a pediatrician in a Miami hospital; and Malawi's rejection of circumcision for AIDS prevention). The AAP conference is a crucial opportunity to build on this momentum. With your help, we'll be able to send a team from Intact America to San Francisco, where we will set up a high-visibility booth inside the AAP conference center. Being there in person means we can talk with pediatricians face to face, and remind them that it violates medical ethics to perform unnecessary, life-altering surgery on baby boys who cannot give their consent.
Danielle, we can't afford NOT to be there...but we can't do it without your help.
With your help, we can precent the AAP from recommending circumcision for America's baby boys.
As always, thank you so much for all that you do.
Sincerely,
Georganne Chapin

INTACT America- Say NO To Circumcision!!!

Intact America

March 2010

ACT NOW

No professional medical association in the world has ever recommended infant circumcision.
But the Centers for Disease Control is still considering recommending routine circumcision
of all infant boys – and they may be doing this very soon.

More than 20,000 intactivists have already added their names to our petition urging

the CDC not to endanger our baby boys. Now we're just 3,152 signatures shy of
our 25,000-signature goal!

Our plan is to deliver the petitions to the CDC in April to make sure they hear our

message. Will you help us reach 25,000 signatures by March 31?
Tell your friends, and be sure to share the campaign on Twitter or Facebook.

Take Action!

UPDATES

AMSA Earlier this month, Intact America attended the American
Medical Student Association's annual conference in California,
educating future physicians about the risks, harms, and
ethics of infant circumcision. We received a lot of positive
feedback – Read the full report here >>

Intact America's Executive Director, Georganne Chapin, and several other
intactivists testified before the Massachusetts State Legislature in support
of the Male Genital Mutilation Bill. While the Bill was voted down, it was an
incredibly important step in bringing this issue to the public eye – so much
so that Georganne was interviewed on Fox News! Watch the
Fox news clip here and read Georganne's testimony here >>

March 26 marks the 17th anniversary of Genital Integrity Awareness Week.
During the week, activists in favor of ending infant circumcision will gather
each day on the west lawn of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, DC to show
their support for bringing an end to infant circumcision in this country.

SUPPORT

Thanks to supporters like you, we raised more than $10,000 to support our
recent presence at the American Medical Student Association's conference
in California! The dedicated activists who manned our booth at the conference
reported that our presence was a success and that "the [medical] students
were amazingly receptive to our message."

After interacting with roughly a quarter of the attending students at the

conference, speaking with them personally, challenging misperceptions,
and raising awareness about the risks and ethics of infant circumcision,
we are reminded once again just how important reaching these audiences
is to our cause.

Can we count on your financial support to help us make more outreach

efforts like this possible?

DID YOU KNOW...

...there is NO conclusive link between circumcision and better health?
In fact, performing medically unnecessary surgery on a baby boy's
genitals creates immediate and otherwise completely avoidable health risks.
Circumcision-related risks include infection, hemorrhage, scarring, loss of
part or all of the penis, and even death. These dangers exist in even the
best clinical settings. Find out more about the risks and harms of circumcision
by reading The Facts Behind Circumcision.
